Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions appeared to be coasting towards a straightforward triumph in the showdown between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger opened the scoring early on.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 years.
